Your Change For A Change (YCFAC), a non-profit organization, held their usual health fair in Farato last Friday, where they provided free health care services like screening for diabetes and hypertension, BMI measurement, maternal health care, eye screening, free consultation,
blood drives, and dental care.
YCFAC is an organization of young Gambians in the diaspora working towards the development of the country. Speaking at the event, Saikou Camara of YCFAC said his organization focuses on health because it is a key pillar of development.
Dr Modou Bella Jallow, a medical doctor at the EFSTH and country director of YCFAC, pointed out that health is not cheap and that the government should make it a duty to provide adequate healthcare for the people. He promised that YCFAC would continue to lend a hand as it currently does.
Farato VDC chairman, Saikou BN Njie thanked the organization, doctors, and nurses for mobilizing medical support for his people, describing their efforts as patriotic.
Fatou Bojang, a beneficiary of the health fair, expressed gratitude and delight, thanking the organization for coming up with the initiative. “I don’t know how much this could have cost me, including the medicine, healthcare is very expensive in The Gambia,” she said.
